University Surgical Associates public relations works with local and
national print and broadcast media, as well as other external

and medical services.
USA public relations also works reactively, responding to media
inquiries on a variety of medical-related issues.
University Surgical Associates' media contact is available to assist
local, regional, national and international news media in answering
any questions regarding physician or staff interviews, locating an expert spokesperson(s) or obtaining additional information regarding corporate press releases and events. You can reach our public relations director during normal office hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. by phone or e-mail, and after hours by page.
USA is happy to assist any legitimate member of the local, national or international media seeking interviews or related information pertaining to a news story. It's our full intent to comply with state and federal statutes with respect to confidentiality of patient identities and information. It's in this interest we ask that you please observe our media guidelines.
- Please contact USA's public relations director by phone, e-mail or pager with any interview or informational request regarding USA physicians, staff or patient updates. You can reach our public relations director during normal office hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. by phone or e-mail and by page after hours.
- Please notify USA's public relations director in advance of any on-site interviews so proper arrangements can be made for your visit. Members of the media must be accompanied by a USA media representative while on USA property.
- Because USA surgeons enjoy privileges at most local Chattanooga Hospital facilities, members of the media, when covering a story involving a USA surgeon, are requested to identify USA surgeons as being members of University Surgical Associates regardless of which hospital the story originates.
- If a USA patient's medical situation is not a matter of public record, USA will require family permission to release any information, including current conditions and treatment.
- USA will always defer to the wishes of a patient's family in the event of a media request. It's the position of USA that the patient’s proper care and privacy supercede the public’s desire for information. Adherence to these guidelines will help ensure those priorities.
